The reception took place solemnly with the participation of Assoc.Prof. Dr. TRAN Quang Tien – President of Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA), Assoc.Prof. Dr. DUONG Kim Anh – Vice President of VWA, and leaders from the Faculties, Institutes, and Departments of the Academy. The meeting opened up many meaningful cooperation opportunities, especially in the fields of education and gender equality.
At the reception, Assoc.Prof. Dr. TRAN Quang Tien sent a warm welcome to Ambassador Shovgi MEHDIZADE and introduced the history of establishment and development of VWA. During its operation, the Academy has continuously expanded its training scale and improved the quality of teaching, becoming one of the pioneers in promoting gender equality and affirming and enhancing the position of women in society. Assoc.Prof. Dr. TRAN Quang Tien also expressed his hope that through this visit, VWA will have the opportunity to connect, learn and cooperate with leading universities and research institutes in Azerbaijan to jointly develop practical educational activities.
Ambassador Shovgi MEHDIZADE expressed his impression of the scale and development speed of VWA, especially the continuous efforts in promoting gender equality in Vietnam. He emphasized the similarities between Vietnamese and Azerbaijani women with their great contributions throughout history. At the same time, he affirmed the important role of women in the socio-economic development of both countries. According to the Ambassador, cooperation in education, especially gender equality education, will create opportunities to promote women’s advancement and enhance their status in all fields of work, contributing to building a fair and progressive society.
During the meeting, Ambassador Shovgi MEHDIZADE recalled the important historical milestone of 1959 – the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Baku – the capital of Azerbaijan. He said that this anniversary is a testament to the deep friendship between the two countries and also a driving force to continue developing cooperation in many fields, including education. On this occasion, Azerbaijan wishes to expand cooperation with Vietnam in the field of education, especially programs to promote gender equality and develop the role of women in modern society. Ambassador Shovgi MEHDIZADE emphasized that the similarity in the development goals of the two countries is the reason why the Azerbaijani Embassy in Vietnam proposed a working session with VWA, to discuss and develop a practical cooperation plan.
Assoc.Prof. Dr. TRAN Quang Tien expressed his appreciation for the opportunity for VWA to connect with Azerbaijani educational institutions. President TRAN Quang Tien emphasized the rich potential for cooperation, not only limited to student and lecturer exchanges but also expanding to the fields of scientific research and developing joint training programs. In particular, the two sides can organize seminars on gender equality, exchange programs and short-term training courses for staff. Assoc.Prof. Dr. TRAN Quang Tien also hopes that VWA and Azerbaijani universities will develop specific, long-term and effective cooperation plans.
At the end of the meeting, representatives of both sides pledged to soon implement the next roadmap to materialize the discussed ideas and cooperation plans. VWA and the Embassy of Azerbaijan both believe that the upcoming cooperation programs will not only promote the friendly relationship between the two countries but also contribute to spreading the value of gender equality, creating a foundation for sustainable development of both Vietnam and Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani Ambassador visits the Academy’s Hall of Traditions
