The workshop was attended by 20 American English teaching assistants who graduated from prestigious universities in the United States with various majors. These teaching assistants, under the Fulbright program of the US Embassy in Vietnam, will come to teach and support English teaching at specialized high schools, colleges and universities across Vietnam. Accompanying the teaching assistants are Fulbright Program coordinators and lecturers from the Department of Foreign Languages of Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA).

The teaching assistants provided students with practical learning experiences, helping them practice their English skills, especially pronunciation, listening and speaking. In addition to being guided on correct pronunciation, students also participated in communication activities such as group discussions, conversations on everyday topics and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and the United States. This was an opportunity for students to approach English through familiar, practical contexts, while learning about the culture and communication styles of native speakers.

In addition to improving their language skills, the practice session was also an opportunity for the new students of the 12th course to meet and interact with lecturers and classmates from 11 different majors of the Academy. Through group activities, students had the opportunity to express their opinions and share stories about life, culture and study, helping them become more confident in communicating in English.

The diverse topics of discussion, such as cuisine, travel, study, and student lifestyle in Vietnam and the United States, helped students not only improve their English skills but also understand more about the rich and diverse cultures of the two countries. Students were divided into small groups, each with direct guidance from a native teacher, creating the best conditions for all participants to have the opportunity to practice.

During the practice session, the comfortable and open atmosphere helped students become more confident in speaking and expressing themselves in English. The native teachers were also very enthusiastic and dedicated to guiding students, creating a friendly learning environment, encouraging students to ask questions and interact naturally.

The English communication practice session with native teachers not only helped students get acquainted with English but also was a stepping stone for the new students of the 12th course to be more confident in their learning journey at the Academy. The presence and guidance of native Fulbright teachers not only provided useful knowledge but also inspired students to learn, helping them better understand the importance of using English in study and life.

This activity also demonstrates the interest of VWA in improving the quality of foreign language training, creating many opportunities for students to interact and learn from native speakers with teaching experience. Through this, the Academy hopes to help students develop comprehensively, confidently integrate into the international learning environment, and prepare well for their future careers.

The English communication practice session with native Fulbright teachers from the United States is one of the continuous efforts of VWA in building a dynamic, creative, and internationally integrated learning environment for students. This is a meaningful initial activity for new students, helping them not only improve their English proficiency but also build good relationships with friends and teachers, preparing a solid foundation for their time studying at the Academy.
