The Student Women’s Football Tournament 2026, organized by Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA) served as a meaningful sporting event commemorating several significant national and institutional milestones. These included the 76th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Students (9 January 1950 – 9 January 2026), the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (3 February 1930 – 3 February 2026). Beyond its function as a recreational athletic competition, the tournament carried profound educational and socio-political significance, contributing to the cultivation of civic responsibility, collective identity, and institutional pride among VWA students.

In recent years, alongside its strong emphasis on academic excellence and professional training, the Vietnam Women’s Academy has consistently promoted cultural, artistic, and sports activities as an integral component of holistic education. The 2026 women’s football tournament reaffirmed this orientation by providing a dynamic platform for female students to demonstrate physical strength, teamwork, confidence, and leadership. Through sport, the Academy seeks to foster resilience, cooperation, and self-efficacy – qualities essential for women’s empowerment in contemporary society.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended and enthusiastically supported by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Tien, Party Secretary and Director of the Academy, together with representatives of academic departments, the Student Affairs Office, and the Youth Union. The active presence of the Academy’s leadership underscored the institution’s strong commitment to student well-being and development, while also serving as a source of encouragement for participating teams to compete with confidence, dedication, and sportsmanship.

The 2026 tournament brought together six women’s football teams representing various academic programs within the Academy. Through a transparent draw, the teams were divided into two groups. Group A included the Joint Team of Tourism Management – Gender and Development, Multimedia Communication, and Law. Group B consisted of Economic Law, Information Technology, and the Joint Team of Economics – Digital Economics – Social Work. This structure ensured balanced competition and created opportunities for engaging and competitive matches from the group stage onward.

Matches officially commenced on 17 January 2026 at La Thanh Football Field (No. 93 Hoang Van Thai Alley), with the opening ceremony held at 8:30 a.m. on the same day. The match schedule was designed to allow adequate recovery time for athletes while encouraging broad participation and support from staff, lecturers, and students. Each match not only showcased technical skills and tactical coordination but also highlighted fair play, solidarity, and perseverance among the student-athletes.

In preparation for the tournament, all teams undertook systematic and disciplined training programs. Regular practice sessions focused on improving physical fitness, technical proficiency, and team coordination. Many teams also developed specific tactical approaches and emphasized training discipline and collective responsibility, reflecting a high level of commitment and professionalism.

The tournament featured an attractive award structure, including prizes for the champion, runner-up, and third-place teams, as well as individual awards for Best Goalkeeper and Top Scorer. These awards served as recognition of outstanding performance and motivation for sustained engagement in sports activities.

Overall, the Vietnam Women’s Academy Student Women’s Football Tournament 2026 successfully promoted a vibrant sports culture, strengthened solidarity within the student community, and reinforced the image of VWA female students as confident, dynamic, and socially responsible individuals. Beyond competition results, the tournament contributed meaningfully to the Academy’s mission of fostering well-rounded development and empowering women in the context of modern higher education.
