Overview

The training program is designed to ensure that undergraduates achieve the following goals:

  • Possess strong political awareness and good ethics; demonstrate respect for and full compliance with national policies and laws; uphold patriotism and national pride.
  • Develop a scientific and systematic economic mindset; acquire deep theoretical and practical knowledge in tourism and travel services management; be capable of working in both domestic and international environments.
  • Be able to establish, organize, operate, and develop tourism and travel service businesses based on the theoretical and practical foundation provided.
  • Exhibit professional work ethics and attitudes, responsibility, enthusiasm, and sociability; work effectively in teams; be aware of gender equality issues in economic and business activities.
  • Have strong communication, IT, and foreign language skills that meet job requirements, especially in the tourism and travel services sector.
  • Maintain good health to perform work duties effectively

Program Stucture

– Total credits: 121 credits, excluding English courses (14 credits), physical education (3 credits), and national defense education (8 credits).

– The credits are distributed across the following knowledge categories:

  • General education: 28 credits, including 24 compulsory credits and 4 elective credits

Output Standards

General knowledge:

  1. Summarize the fundamental principles of Marxism–Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, the Party’s viewpoints, guidelines, and policies, as well as the laws and regulations of the State.
  2. Explain and apply knowledge from social sciences, political science, and law as a foundation for acquiring core knowledge of the discipline cluster and general knowledge in the field of Business Administration.
  3. Demonstrate understanding and the ability to apply socio-economic laws in business organization, management, and operations, including: marketing, organizational structure and human resources, production, accounting and finance, business policies and strategies, innovative entrepreneurship and business development, social responsibility, and gender responsibility.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Hotel Management:

4. Demonstrate a broad understanding of socio-cultural aspects: To effectively grasp customer psychology and needs, hotel managers must possess solid knowledge of culture, cuisine, customs, traditions, psychology, and human behavior. Only with such understanding can they truly satisfy their guests.

Confidence, dynamism, strong communication, and sensitivity: As most of the work involves interacting with guests and managing various departments, it is essential to be perceptive and responsive to others’ emotions during communication in order to promptly resolve arising issues. These qualities are crucial for success in the field.

Ability to handle work pressure: The service industry, especially hotel management, is often under pressure from revenue targets, workload, and diverse situations. Professionals must be resilient and capable of managing stress, or they may easily burn out.

Foreign language proficiency: In today’s era of global integration, language skills are vital for advancing in this field and expanding career opportunities.

  • Tourism Management:

4. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of tourism management.

General knowledge:

  1. Possess the ability to address real-life and workplace issues based on the principles of Marxism–Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought.
  2. Integrate professional business administration skills such as planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and adjusting.
  3. Demonstrate business acumen through the ability to identify business opportunities and make decisions to operate a business.
  4. Identify problems, apply critical analysis, and make decisions to resolve business issues.
  5. Practice innovation and creativity in developing new products/services and business models.
  6. Conduct research in general and market research in particular.
  7. Communicate and exchange information effectively.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to manage, lead, and develop human resources.

Specialized skills:

9. Master operational and management skills related to market and customer analysis, digital advertising, social marketing, supply chain, and e-business.

  • Organizational and Human Resource Management

9. Effectively apply operational and management skills in recruitment, staff training, human resource development, compensation and benefits, labor relations, performance management, and organizational behavior.

  • Finance and Investation:

9. Effectively apply operational and management skills in real estate investment, securities analysis and trading, investment project management, financial markets, and financial risk management.

Foreign Language Proficiency

Students may choose to study and meet graduation requirements in one of two languages – English or Japanese, with the following standards:

1.English Proficiency

Communicative English at Level 3 according to the Vietnamese 6-Level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework. Graduates are able to:

  • Understand the main ideas of standard texts or speeches on familiar topics such as work, school, and leisure.
  • Handle most communication situations encountered in regions where English is used.
  • Write simple paragraphs on familiar or personal-interest topics.
  • Describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions; briefly explain reasons, opinions, and plans.
  • Read and comprehend documents and texts related to their major field of study.

2. Japanese Proficiency

Communicative Japanese at Level 3 (JLPT N3 equivalent) under the Vietnamese 6-Level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework. Graduates are able to:

  • Fully understand simple information related to daily life and work topics.
  • Comprehend details in most communications when spoken with familiar expressions and clear pronunciation.
  • Grasp the main ideas of short stories, workplace conversations, and study or entertainment-related discussions when clearly articulated in standard Japanese.
  • Clearly and thoroughly express ideas on moderately broad topics related to personal interests.
  • Present, elaborate on key points, and give relevant examples to reinforce personal viewpoints and arguments.

Information Technology

  • Demonstrate foundational knowledge of computer systems, data organization, digital resources, and computer networks. Proficient in essential office software and capable of utilizing internet-based applications and services in accordance with Circular No. 03/2014/TT-BGDĐT dated March 11, 2014, or an equivalent certification issued by the Vietnam Women’s Academy, for graduation eligibility purposes.

Career Opportunities

Students graduating in Tourism and Hospitality Management meet the standards of general education knowledge as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training; grasp principles and natural–social laws; possess adequate knowledge of political theory, socio-economics, and the understanding of the field and major training programs, specifically as follows:

  • Summarize general education knowledge regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, including: Marxism–Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought and the revolutionary guidelines of the Communist Party of Vietnam, tourism business law, foreign languages, foundation of Vietnamese culture, and general professional knowledge;
  • Interpret fundamental knowledge of management science, business administration, theoretical frameworks, core issues in management studies, tourism management, and apply them effectively in research, business and management practices.
  • Present interdisciplinary knowledge of economics, politics, society, culture, geography, science and technology, law, and environmental protection in tourism business activities, contributing actively to research and sustainable tourism development;
  • Express fluently specialized, supporting and practical knowledge in Tourism and Hospitality Management, including: Hotel business operations; Vietnam’s tourist attractions and routes; tourism management; tour guiding operations; destination management, etc.
