The talk is one of many cooperative activities between Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA) and The Consultative Institute for Socio-Economic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas (CISDOMA) within the framework of the Project called “Youth participate in changing gender stereotypes and promoting gender equality in Vietnam” funded by Oxfam and the European Union. The Gender & Development Faculty of VWA is the focal point for organizing the talk “Come out – Stepping over the boundary of prejudice” .
The talk was attended by representatives of CISDOMA, guest speakers (gender experts, social development experts, communication experts, …), representatives of the EU and Oxfam, representatives of the VWA’s lecturers and students of Gender & Development Faculty, as well as representatives of leaders, lecturers, researchers, and staff of VWA and other universities.
The talk is a forum for exchanging knowledge, experience and practical activities related to the LGBT community. Thereby contributing to the communication to promote change, develop solutions to reduce gender prejudice in the LGBT community in Vietnam today, as well as alter the existing inaccurate notions about gender. The talk is also a meaningful activity to continue to maintain and strengthen the cooperative relationship between VWA and CISDOMA, and other universities that are partners in the Project.
During the talk “Come out – Stepping over the boundary of prejudice”, scholars, experts and students will discuss these issue: Current situations of gender prejudice against the LGBT community; Difficulties and challenges for the LGBTs when being themselves, and exchange information regarding Actions to eliminate gender bias against the LGBT community and to cope with gender inequality issues.
