On October 17, Prime Minister PHAM Minh Chinh visited and met with cadres of Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU), as well as lecturers and students of Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA) on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of VWU, the Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20 annually), and the 12th anniversary of VWA..
Also attending were Minister of Education & Training (MOET) – Mr. NGUYEN Kim Son, President of the Vietnam Women’s Union – Ms. HA Thi Nga, as well as leaders of VWU, representatives of leaders of ministries and agencies, and leaders, officials, lecturers, students and employees of VWA.

In recent years, inheriting and promoting the development achievements of the Central Women’s Cadre Training School, VWA has achieved many important and impressive achievements, notably the increasing scale of cadre training, making an important contribution to improving the capacity of the Women’s Union at all levels. The training topics for cadres are increasingly rich and diverse, with the core being women’s work, gender equality, leadership and management, etc.
Over the 12 years since its establishment, the total number of VWU cadres and female cadres trained by VWA has reached nearly 48,000. In particular, nearly 300 cadres from Laos and Cambodia have been trained.
VWA has made strong changes very early in applying information technology and digital transformation to cadre training as well as university education, demonstrating dynamism, creativity, innovation, daring to think, daring to do.
Since 2014, VWA has begun to apply the online learning system to cadre training, with the development of nearly 100 electronic lectures provided on the online platform; helping to shorten the time for direct learning, attracting more learners.
VWA has built and determined to pursue the philosophy of “comprehensive, quality and equal education”, with high identity and humanistic values; promoting an increasingly important role in raising awareness of gender equality as well as training high-level human resources in the fields of Gender & Development and Social Work.
Over the past 10 years, VWA has organized training in a specific field of study on Gender & Development, integrating training in at least 1 subject on gender in most fields of study. At the same time, it is determined to develop to become one of 2 universities in Vietnam to train all 3 levels: undergraduate, master’s and doctoral in Social Work.

Prime Minister PHAM Minh Chinh commended and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of VWA in particular and VWU in general, contributing to the cause of women’s advancement and affirming the particularly important role of Vietnamese women in the cause of national construction and defense.
The Prime Minister emphasized that women play an extremely important part in the development of each family, each community and society, each nation and ethnic group. In the glorious history of the nation, Vietnamese women have always made many great contributions to the process of national construction and defense.
Our Party and State always pay deep attention to the work of female cadres and gender equality with the consistent viewpoint of ensuring substantive equality between men and women in terms of opportunities, participation and enjoyment in the fields of politics, economics, culture and society.
Many important policies, strategies and guidelines for women’s development have been issued and effectively implemented by the Party and State, contributing to promoting the role and creating an environment for Vietnamese women to develop, to increasingly affirm their position and to contribute even more to the society.
Entering a new era – the era of national advancement, the Prime Minister suggested that Vietnamese women should continue to promote their glorious traditions, strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, always unite with others in terms of qualities, talents, intelligence, and compassion, with a spirit of high determination, and strive together with the whole country to successfully implement the set socio-economic development goals and tasks.
The Prime Minister requested VWU and VWA to focus on implementing a number of contents well. In particular, for VWU; continue to practically and effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the resolutions, conclusions and directives of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, including Directives No. 05, 06, 21 of the Secretariat on family building, sustainable poverty reduction, and women’s work in the new situation.
Women’s Unions at all levels should increase their proactiveness and creativity, continue to effectively implement the 3 key tasks and 4 groups of solutions set out in the Resolution of the Women’s Congress for the 2022 – 2027 term; continue to pay close attention, direct and support VWA to fulfill its mission well, successfully implement the development goals until 2030 and the vision to 2045 as set out.
The Prime Minister requested VWA to continue to promote its fine traditions and achievements; closely follow its mission and core values: “Unity, Devotion, Creativity, Quality”; have higher political determination, innovate more strongly; constantly be proactive, creative, and best fulfill the development goals and visions set out; focus on creating differences and unique values of VWA compared to other training institutions.
VWA participates more deeply in the process of promoting the implementation of national goals on gender equality and social supervision and criticism, improving the quality of training of female cadres and Union cadres, strengthening connections so that businesses and organizations can participate more, more deeply, and more substantially in the training process at VWA, supporting learners to promote their creativity, critical thinking ability, their dare to think, dare to do, and dare to take responsibility, strengthening international cooperation, promoting potential and strengths, affirming prestige and position, as well as focusing on solutions to improve training quality to meet market needs in the new context.
“The teachers of VWA are requested to adhere to the motto: “Taking students as the center, as the subject – Teachers as the driving force – School as the support – Family as the fulcrum – Society as the foundation”; always be shining examples, creating motivation, inspiration, fostering patriotism, solidarity, and aspiration for dedication; promoting the highest qualities and capacities of students”, said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister hopes that the students of VWA will promote their role as the center, the subject, worthy of being the future owners of the country; constantly strive to improve, practice, and to contribute to the cause of women’s development, gender equality in particular and the development of the country in general.
“Let’s nurture passion, ambition, and aspiration to rise up; always persevere, dare to commit; unite, be bold, and be creative to succeed in career and life. You should proactively contribute to raising awareness of the community, society, domestic and international friends about the traditions, qualities, intelligence, and identity of Vietnamese women. Always fight for gender equality, promote self-reliance”, the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministries of Education & Training, Planning & Investment, Labor-Invalids & Social Affairs, Home Affairs, and the People’s Committee of Hanoi to direct the implementation of the program. Hanoi closely coordinates with VWU to continue to guide and arrange resources to invest in facilities so that VWA can meet the conditions and standards for higher education institutions, serve the training of cadres, civil servants and public employees, research and advise on specific policies in training, train and develop high-quality female human resources to realize the goal of gender equality and Vietnam’s commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 on gender equality.
The Prime Minister suggested studying and re-planning the school’s space to have enough rooms for teaching, research and practice, making the space larger and more airy. The Prime Minister assigned the whole Hanoi, including the Ministry of Construction, and VWU to research to make it worthy of what VWA has done.
The Prime Minister believes that the glorious traditions, good traits, kindness, diligence, dynamism, creativity and spirit of contribution and dedication of Vietnamese women will be continuously inherited, nurtured and developed. Those traditions and traits are the convergence of intelligence, bravery, diligence, and boundless sacrifice to nurture love and happiness for each family and community and contribute to society and the country.
“Those traditions and good traits of Vietnamese women will forever shine, enriching the cultural identity of Vietnam in the new era, contributing to building our country to be increasingly strong and prosperous, and for the people to have a prosperous and happy life”, said the Prime Minister.
On the occasion of Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20 annually), the Prime Minister warmly congratulated and wished Vietnamese women to: continuously promote the tradition and qualities of confidence, self-respect, loyalty, diligence, self-reliance, self-reliance, and the desire to rise up, constantly contribute efforts and intelligence to build the homeland and country to become more and more beautiful, constantly strive to become a dynamic, creative, daring, and action-oriented woman of the new era, spread love and warmth in every family, every community, street corner, hamlet, village, and create a beautiful picture, rich in the unique identity of Heroic Vietnamese Women.
