This is one of the key activities under Project 8: “Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children” under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, Phase I (2021-2025). Through workshops and exchange activities, the campaign not only creates opportunities for ethnic minority youth to promote their pioneering role in changing gender stereotypes but also helps them build aspirations to rise up and contribute positively to the sustainable development of the community.

With each participating delegation consisting of 9 ethnic minority students and 1 instructor, 7 universities and academies: University of Science – Thai Nguyen University, Vietnam Women’s Academy, Ethnic Academy, Tan Trao University, Tay Bac University, Central Ethnic University Preparatory School, Quang Ninh University of Industry will participate in these following activities:

⭐ Building a space to display propaganda images/publications and traditional cultural products of ethnic minorities.

⭐ Promoting the pioneering role of ethnic minority youth in changing gender prejudices and stereotypes.

⭐ Participating in cultural exchanges between universities and academies.

⭐ Demonstrating and exchanging initiatives regarding communication strategy to raise awareness of gender equality for ethnic minority youth.

Participating in this event, the ethnic minority student delegation of Vietnam Women’s Academy brought a unique display space, introducing images, propaganda publications and traditional cultural products imbued with the identity of ethnic minorities such as Tay, Nung, San Chi, Thai, Cao Lan… The publications on gender equality were elaborately compiled, along with traditional costumes prepared by the students themselves, containing memories of cultural stories and life closely associated with each ethnic group.

Each costume is not simply a cultural product, but also a symbol of the spirit of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities. These are touching stories about families, villages, the imprints of past generations and are now vividly recreated through the appreciation of the younger generation.

Selected photos from communication campaigns on gender equality in ethnic minority areas were also displayed at the Academy’s exhibition booth, creating a space full of vitality and creativity.

The exhibition space of Vietnam Women’s Academy has become a special highlight, attracting the attention of many visitors. With a harmonious combination of traditional beauty, youthfulness and creativity, the booth cleverly conveyed messages about gender equality and changing gender stereotypes in the community. Each product and each photo is a strong affirmation of the role of ethnic minority youth in building a fair and sustainable society.

Students and lecturers of Vietnam Women’s Academy (in blue and white shirts) interact with students of Tan Trao University at the exhibition.

Following the success of the exhibition, on the afternoon of September 24, the delegation of students from Vietnam Women’s Academy will participate in the workshop on “Promoting the Pioneering Role of Ethnic Minority Youth in Changing Gender Prejudices and Stereotypes” with two special sessions.

The first session is the sharing and discussion of the current situations and solutions to promote the role of ethnic minority students in eliminating gender stereotypes.

The second session is the sharing of inspirational stories from outstanding young people and students, thereby arousing the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, daring to change amongst the young generation.

At the workshop, members of the Vietnam Women’s Academy delegation will contribute ideas regarding the goals and methods of operating the Ethnic Minority Club, the Gender Equality and Sustainable Development Club, as well as initiatives of communication to raise awareness of gender equality for ethnic minority youth implemented by the Academy’s students.

This communication campaign for promoting gender equality is not only a creative playground, connecting ethnic minority youth, but also an opportunity for young people to affirm their role in eliminating gender stereotypes, contributing to building a developed and prosperous ethnic minority community. This is also a vivid proof that Vietnam Women’s Academy is constantly striving to accompany ethnic minority youth in the journey of changing awareness and action for a progressive society with equality.
