This is one of the key activities under Project 8: “Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children” under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, Phase I (2021 – 2025). Through workshops and exchange activities, the campaign not only creates opportunities for ethnic minority youth to promote their pioneering role in changing gender stereotypes but also helps them build aspirations to rise up and contribute positively to the sustainable development of the community.

Each participating delegation consists of 9 ethnic minority students and 1 instructor, the delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA) participates with 7 other universities and academies including: University of Science – Thai Nguyen University, Tay Bac University, Tan Trao University, University of Education – Thai Nguyen University, National Academy of Public Administration, Academy of Ethnic Minorities.

The delegations participated in 4 activities together and below are impressive images of the ethnic minority student delegation of VWA at the event series:

    ⭐ Building a space to display propaganda images/publications and traditional cultural products of ethnic minorities.

Workshop promoting the pioneering role of ethnic minority youth in changing gender biases and gender stereotypes.

Cultural exchanges between 7 participated universities.

Colorful performances of ethnic groups were impressively performed by students from 7 universities. The dance performance: “Sao La at school” performed by VWA students was the opening act of the cultural exchange night.

Exchanging and demonstrating the communication initiatives for raising awareness of gender equality for ethnic minority youth, which won the third prize.

The content of the communication initiatives focused on raising awareness of gender equality for ethnic minority youth, promoting the elimination of backward cultural practices among ethnic minorities (such as: early marriage, consanguineous marriage, giving birth at home, gender-based violence, curing illnesses by worshiping, etc.), contributing to gender equality and solving urgent social issues for women, children, and youth in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. The delegation of VWA’s ethnic minority students performed a scene about freedom of career choices to realize the dreams, as well as presented the project called “Career Equity – Enlighten the Future” at the exchange program. The competition received enthusiastic cheers from the audience and the judges.
