This fundraising activity is not only aimed at the community but also shows concern for members of Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA) who were directly affected by the storm. Part of the donation, specifically 72,701,369 VND, was deducted from one day’s salary of officials and employees and was paid to the Fatherland Front Fund through the Labor Union of the Central Vietnam Women’s Union. The remaining amount was used to directly support officials, employees and 20 students, and to support people who suffered heavy losses due to the storm in some northern mountainous provinces.
On the afternoon of September 16, VWA organized a gift-giving ceremony to support officials, employees and students affected by storm No. 3. Attending the ceremony were Assoc.Prof. Dr. TRAN Quang Tien – Party Secretary, President of the Academy; M.A. NGUYEN Thi Phuong – President of the Academy’s Labor Union; PhD(c). Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof. Dr. TRAN Quang Tien shared: “This small gift contains VWA’s deep affection and concern, with the hope that lecturers and students will soon overcome the damage caused by the storm, quickly rebuild their lives and continue working and studying normally.”
Students and cadres who received support expressed their gratitude for VWA’s concern.
Comrade PHAM Van Thien shared: “Typhoon Yagi collapsed the wall, collapsed the house, causing heavy damage to my family in Quang Ninh. Currently, my family is in the process of self-recovery. The concern, encouragement and support of VWA is a meaningful material and spiritual gift for my family. Sincerely thank the affection of the Board of Management and cadres at the Academy, my family will try to quickly stabilize our lives after the storm.”
It is also shared that the families of 20 students suffered quite a lot of damage after the storm. Each family had different circumstances and damages, but thanks to the support from VWA, they all felt more confident to continue studying and overcome this difficulty.
Storm No. 3, internationally known as Typhoon Yagi, has caused severe damage to many northern provinces, especially mountainous and coastal areas. Thousands of houses were damaged, hundreds of hectares of crops were washed away and a series of infrastructures were destroyed. In such a difficult context, timely support actions from organizations and units such as VWA were a great source of spiritual encouragement for affected families. The launch and implementation of the donation program not only provided financial support but was also a way for the Academy to demonstrate its sense of social responsibility and internal solidarity. This is also part of VWA’s commitment to its responsibility to the community, especially to its members in difficult and challenging times.

In the coming time, VWA plans to continue to carry out many volunteer activities to support the community and continue to promote the culture of solidarity and mutual assistance in all circumstances. These actions not only help overcome the consequences of natural disasters but also strengthen the humanitarian spirit and social responsibility of each individual in the Academy.
This donation and gift-giving activity is a clear demonstration of the spirit of “mutual love” of all cadres, civil servants, employees and students of VWA, contributing to spreading the message of humanity, supporting the community to overcome difficulties, towards a brighter future.
