Dr. Zarrin Seema SIDDIQUI worked at Vietnam Women’s Academy (VWA) from 7 January to 5 March 2025 with funding from Australian Volunteers International (AVI). During her tenure, she has made many important contributions to the Academy’s training and scientific research activities, especially in the field of Gender & Development.

During more than two months of working at the Academy, Dr. Siddiqui organized 7 training sessions on scientific research capacity building for lecturers of Gender & Development Faculty and other interested cadres. The training sessions focused on important topics such as:

⭐ Approaches in qualitative research;

⭐ Building and developing scientific research topics;

⭐ Using AI tools in research;

⭐ Ethics in scientific research;

⭐ Building scientific research proposals.

The training sessions provided a lot of useful knowledge, helping lecturers and cadres of VWA access advanced research methods, apply technology in research, and at the same time raise awareness of scientific research ethics.

In addition to the training activities, Dr. Siddiqui also organized two discussion topics with students of Gender major, attracting the participation of many students and lecturers:

  • Topic 1: Gender in health care with the participation of lecturers of Gender & Development Faculty, cadres of the Research Institute, as well as 130 students of Gender & Development Faculty and Information Technology Institute.
  • Topic 2: Gender in reproductive health care gathering 130 students from the Gender & Development Faculty and Psychology Faculty, helping students gain a deeper understanding of reproductive health issues from a gender perspective.

In addition to teaching and training activities, Dr. Siddiqui is also actively involved in scientific research. She collaborated with lecturers of the Gender & Development Faculty to write a scientific article, contributing to the research activities of the Academy.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony, Assoc.Prof. Dr. DUONG Kim Anh – Vice President of VWA, Dean of Gender & Development Faculty, respectfully acknowledged and thanked Dr. Siddiqui for his important contributions during his time at the Academy. The Vice President emphasized that Dr. Siddiqui’s training and professional exchanges helped improve the research and teaching capacity of lecturers and brought valuable practical knowledge to students. Dr. TRAN Thi Thu Hien – Vice Dean of Gender & Development Faculty, also expressed her gratitude for the expert’s contributions and hoped for more opportunities for cooperation in the future.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the lecturers and students of VWA presented meaningful souvenirs, expressing their deep gratitude to Dr. Siddiqui. In particular, Dr. Siddiqui also warmly and sweetly presented the Academy with a cake, expressing her precious feelings for the lecturers and students here. Dr. Siddiqui shared that her time working at VWA was a wonderful experience, helping her better understand the education system and the reality of gender research in Vietnam. She hopes to continue to cooperate with the Academy in future research and training projects.The farewell ceremony ended with many emotions, marking a meaningful cooperation journey between VWA and AVI. The contributions of Dr. Zarrin Seema SIDDIQUI will be an important foundation to help the Academy continue to improve the quality of teaching, research and training, especially in the field of gender and development.
